Calvin Ayre Foundation Supports Saigan Children’s Charity

Friday, December 30th, 2005

The Calvin Ayre Foundation actively supports charitable organizations around the globe. One of these organizations is the Saigon Children’s Charity. The goal of the Saigon Children’s Charity is to help disadvantaged Vietnamese children escape from the cycle of poverty and bring them a brighter future through education and training.

They build schools (village primary schools) or if need be, repair schools which are in need of upgrades.

They give the poorest children scholarships so that they can go to school – this includes the donation of books, pens, rice and sometimes a bicycle.

They run a comprehensive vocational training school that gives young people the skills and confidence they need and then they help to find jobs for them. Sewing, hairdressing, computer skills and English lessons are some of the programs they make available.

Supporting organizations such as this helps to further one of the fundamental goals of the Calvin Ayre Foundation: the welfare and education of disadvantaged children.

Katrina Relief Auction

Thursday, December 15th, 2005

We were in Miami, Florida to support the “South Helping the South Katrina Relief Benefit.”

The event was kicked off by a silent and live auction, and the items up for bid included a Bodog Home Poker Table & Chip Set.

Bodog didn’t just donate items; we also took part in the bidding. When a two-month-old, pure-bred Pomeranian went up for auction, the Bodog team furiously fought for and won him.

The dog was named “Bodog” as he has become a nice addition to the Bodog family.

Supporting the Animal Avengers

Saturday, October 8th, 2005

The Calvin Ayre Foundation teamed up with Shannon Elizabeth’s charity, the “Animal Avengers,” in Los Angeles for a charity poker tournament fundraiser.

The Animal Avengers is a nonprofit animal rescue organization dedicated to rescuing and placing homeless pets, reducing pet overpopulation, promoting responsible pet guardianship and preventing animal cruelty.

Goldie Hawn’s son, actor Oliver Hudson, took home the big prize but the true winners were the animals that the Animal Avengers help every day. Shannon’s charity received a 25,000 USD cheque from Calvin personally.
